Students and community members at St. Ambrose University came together to celebrate global traditions during the annual World Cultures Festival, held in the Rogalski Center Ballroom.
The event gave attendees the opportunity to experience cultures from around the world through music, dance, and food. From Japanese board breaking demonstrations to Sudanese dance performances, the festival showcased a wide range of traditions and highlighted the diversity within the campus community.
Event organizer Duk Kim said the festival creates a rare opportunity for people to gather and celebrate different cultures in one space.
“I see this as an opportunity to recognize distinct and diverse cultures in our communities,” Kim said. “We don’t have that many opportunities to get people into one place and celebrate their distinct cultures and their different types of performances.”
This year’s festival featured more than a dozen performers representing over eight countries, giving attendees the chance to both learn about and engage with cultures different from their own.
Organizers say the event is about more than celebration; it’s about connection. By bringing people together, the World Cultures Festival continues to foster understanding and unity across campus.
They hope the event will continue to grow, encouraging students to come together and celebrate diversity at St. Ambrose University.
