Bee Nourished

At St. Ambrose University, students are doing more than studying for exams. They are helping families across the Davenport community put food on the table. The Bee Nourished Food Pantry, run entirely by SAU students, continues to grow as a vital outreach effort that provides groceries and essential items to local families each month.

The pantry operates on the first Tuesday of every month and works with local partners such as River Bend Foodbank to secure the food needed for each distribution. Students take the lead in organizing the pantry, from managing inventory and preparing food orders to coordinating volunteers and assisting families throughout the day.

What began as a small student-led project has developed into a meaningful service program that reflects the university’s commitment to compassion and community involvement. The pantry has supported dozens of families throughout the school year and continues to expand its reach as demand grows across the community.

Beyond providing food, the experience offers students an opportunity to learn about leadership, teamwork, and service. Each pantry day represents a collective effort to support families who may be struggling to make ends meet. As the need for assistance continues to grow nationwide, Bee Nourished serves as a reminder of how small acts of service can make a lasting difference in the community.
