“Being able to serve with my team, it makes for a great bonding while also helping out the community,” says senior Alyssa Below when asked about her favorite part of Bee the Difference Day, held on Nov 2nd. It’s an event where Ambrose students volunteer in droves to rake leaves for people in the community who needed the help.
This year’s Bee the Difference Day stood out from others. Student Government’s Director of Government Operations, Jack Day, told the Buzz, “The event is always a success, but it especially was this year! We had over 50 homes that over 300 students served, and for the first time in my time running the event, we didn’t have any houses that needed to be done by SGA during the week following.”
Jack also expressed his amazement with just how committed students are to this valued tradition, saying, “The impact our students have always makes this event special, but seeing our students help each other is amazing to see. It’s something we see a little bit of every year, but this year it fe like more than usual. Specifically, there was a team of PA students that finished their house early, and we asked if they’d be willing to go help at another site that needed it, and they did.”
Freshmen Anna Beetz, Chloe Sulzner, and Anna Rickertsen participated in Bee the Difference Day for the first time this year, which allows them to experience the full effect of one of our core values here at Ambrose, service.
“It reflects our values, and it helps us grow as people while making a positive difference in the lives of others,” says Anna Beetz.
Chloe Sulzner states “For Ambrose, serving is important to its Catholic roots.”
“Ambrose Students serving the community is important because it reminds students how much of an impact, they can make by helping others!” responds Anna Rickertsen
Sophomore Lilly Loewenberg also told the Buzz, “Serving our community is important, because I personally feel more connected with the community that surrounds and supports the school! It’s always good to give back to people around you and the spread kindness and generosity”
Junior Grace Berman adds, “It’s amazing to see the impact we can make in just one day when everyone is working toward the same goal. There’s such a great energy on campus, and it really shows what the Ambrose community is all about.”
Student Body Vice President, Kirti Mann sums up the experience well by saying, “Bee the Difference Day is always special because it brings everyone together, students, staff, and neighbors, in such a genuine way. It’s one of those days that truly reminds you what being part of the SAU community means.”
