St. Ambrose graduate student Shai Erdrich continues to redefine what it means to be a threat on the base paths, breaking her own single-season stolen base record and adding another milestone to an already historic career.

Erdrich, a staple at the top of the Bees’ lineup, has built her game around speed, instinct, and relentless pressure. Every time she reaches base, opposing defenses are forced to adjust, often unsuccessfully, as she turns routine opportunities into scoring chances.

After setting the program record previously, Erdrich entered this year with even bigger goals in mind. But rather than focusing solely on the numbers, she has taken a steady, day-by-day approach to her success.

“I’m going for the NAIA Golden Shoe record, taking it day by day,” Erdrich said.

That mindset has translated into consistent production and a growing impact on the national stage. Her ability to read pitchers, timing, and trust her instincts has made her one of the most dangerous base runners in the NAIA.

While stolen bases often highlight individual successes, Erdrich’s contributions go far beyond personal achievements. On a team known for its power at the plate, her speed provides a complementary advantage that keeps defenses guessing.

“Having the small ball game is huge on the team especially being a big power hitting team,” Erdrich said.

Her presence on the base paths not only creates scoring opportunities but also shifts momentum, putting added pressure on pitchers and defenders alike. It’s a role she has embraced as both a leader and playmaker.

Now holding her own record once again, Erdrich’s focus is still on the bigger picture. As the season continues, her pursuit of the NAIA Golden Shoe and her impact on the Bees’ success remain closely intertwined.

For Erdrich, each stolen base is more than a statistic, it is another step toward elevating both her team and her legacy.
