The Fighting Bees women’s volleyball team came out hot in the first two sets but quickly cooled
off as Olivet Nazarene ran away with a 3-1 record to win the night, Wednesday, Oct. 20.

The Bees fought hard in the first two sets, splitting victories with the Tigers. After losing the first
set, 25-22, St. Ambrose battled back to bring home the second set 23-25. St. Ambrose would
give their best performance of the night, tallying 34 percent of the night’s kills over the
course of the set. Unfortunately, the Tigers ran away with the last two sets (25-15, 25-9) to finish
the match on 5-1 and 6-1 leads.

Impressive individual performances from Jill Kavalauskas (11 kills), Maicee Pierce (25 digs) and
Mackenzie Grafton (13 kills, 11 digs) is proof enough that the Bees would not go down quietly.
However, the Tigers’ 50 total kills and 90 digs in response to St. Ambrose’s fighting spirit proved
to be too much for the Bees to overcome.

The Bees moved to 14-10 in the NAIA and 6-7 in the CCAC. The women will look past this loss
as they prepare to host the University of St. Francis tonight, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
