The St. Ambrose men and women’s lacrosse teams say they are ready for a very engaging and exciting season this spring. Both coaches and players could not be more excited.

The men’s lacrosse team has had three fall preseason games, winning two of them, and falling short in one. The men’s team has two more fall season games coming up at home.

Men’s lacrosse team captain Zak Brown says, “Having our preseason games really set the standards for our games this spring. Having the role as captain is also super exciting.”

Sophomore and two-year-starter, Ryan Swanson says, “I think having a preseason also allows for us to build our team chemistry and grow as a team, so when the season comes around, we all know each other and creates for a better unit.”

Another academic sophomore, redshirt freshmen of the men’s lacrosse program Javier Gonzalez says, “Last year I had lots of talent in front of me, so I did not see too much of the field. This year I currently have a starting position at close defense. I have great hope for what we can put together this year as a team. After our two preseason games, I see wonderful things upcoming and hope for the best.”

Sara Casillas, a walk-on sophomore for the women’s team, says she is looking forward to this season. “I just recently joined the team this year as a sophomore, and so far, it has been a blast. Having our games has been so much fun, and this team and group of girls makes it feel like home away from home.”

Sophomore Eve Hanlon adds, “I can really see progress from the team, and I am beyond excited to be starting my second year of playing lacrosse.”

Both teams have talent all around. Practices have focused on things such as communication, staying determined, and speed. Both coaches have their team practicing stick skills and overall team bonding. Men’s head coach Devin Ceaser says, “Fall ball is just a teaser about what is to come.”

Both teams also have incredibly talented first-year students joining the team this season, along with talented and experienced upper-class students.

The men’s lacrosse team recently played a tournament, successfully winning both matches. This concluded the men’s lacrosse fall ball season.

The women’s lacrosse team concluded on October 17th and will begin spring season in the upcoming months.
