It’s business as usual inside the S-A-U mailroom, and with students arriving, so are the shipments. Eagerly awaiting textbooks and care packages, students prepare for the school year. This year however, the mailroom looks a bit different. A process that proved to be successful at Mount Mercy. Slingshot, alongside student employees, are here to supply some much needed help, as students so far have been very confused with the whole process. Whether it’s in the bookstore, or the mailroom, students need some guidance.
Student Employee Gabriella Hunt, had this to say on the process so far. “Making sure you put your first and last name on the package, and making sure the address is correct. You don’t need to put your dorm room number or the hall that you are living in, just put that it’s 518 West Locust Street, Davenport Iowa 52803.”
Change takes time. And after just a few short weeks into the school year, that is simply what the Slingshot team is asking for. With a new system, there is always going to be a harder process of just learning how things have changed.
”Check in with us later in the day. We get all of our packages in around 10:00, and we try to receive them before 1:30 or 2. So coming in a little bit around that 2:00 range to come pick up your packages.” Says Gabriella.
As for the Bookstore side, Slingshot hopes to streamline the process of ordering textbooks within one simple website. They also have gotten rid of the physical bookstore room, and have moved it to a fully virtual website they help take care of for you.
”Whenever you are opted in, which all new students are, you have an order that is made for you based on your course schedule that we receive from Saint Ambrose, the books are automatically sent to us and they are ready before the first day of school.” Says Gabriella.
While the process is designed to be convenient, students still have a few things they should keep an eye on to make sure everything runs smoothly, just as they did with the old system.
”Something to keep in mind is to keep on checking your email, and if you are worried about how Slingshot is doing the transactions, just look at your transaction history and your order history. You can see all of that on your Slingshot portal.” Says Gabriella.
Despite the change, the goal remains the same. To simplify how you get your mail and textbooks, and help their students as much as they can.
