Last Friday, March 12, St. Ambrose’s Dance Marathon organized the Black Tie Dance. One of many events the organization has hosted leading up to the big event in April.

“Normally we have about 100 people come so it’s definitely a little less but honestly this year that’s okay we wanted to still follow the COVID guidelines,” said Emma Wachter, Dance Marathon’s Fundraising Director.

Despite the low turnout, students were still able to enjoy the night with food, fun games and free prizes.

“It’s been really fun,” said Adyson McKinney, a Dance Marathon Morale member. “It’s a little different with everyone wearing masks but it’s really fun because we not only get to support the kids financially, we get to protect them with covering our faces as well.”

Throughout the night, Dance Marathon continued to add to their donations beneffiting the Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. According to Wachter, they earned another $500 at the Black Tie event, which brought thehir fundraising total to more than $31,000. Much of their earnings that night came from ticket sales, raffle tickets and a photo booth at the event.
