His senior year at St. Ambrose University, Fighting Bee athlete Frank Flanagan noticed there was something missing in the Quad Cities – club volleyball. Fast forward to 2021 and he now owns Iowa Select Volleyball Club, a 25-team club with a seven-court facility.

Iowa Select Volleyball Club began with seven teams. Flanagan had to rent court space from a small church gymnasium. Flanagan was able to launch and grow the club thanks to help from his former teammates.

The club offers a wide range of opportunities for different athlete levels.

“We have events from if your kid wants to play for the first time if your kid wants to make their 8th grade school team, or their varsity school team, up to kids who want to play in college,” Flanagan said. “The culture we try to define while we do all of that is just being there for each other. We try to establish a family atmosphere where our older kids are engaged with our younger kids.”

Flanagan hopes to keep spreading his love for the game of volleyball to more kids across Eastern Iowa. You can find more information about events at Iowa Select Volleyball Club on their Facebook or Instagram page.
