Do you enjoy participating in campus activities? St. Ambrose offers many events and activities for its students and one upcoming event is the SAU Night at The Figge. This event takes place on Nov. 10th from 4-8 pm at The Figge Art Museum, downtown Davenport.

The Figgie describes that this event will consist of a silent art auction, scavenger hunt, and interactive activities hosted by a variety of SAU clubs. Some of the clubs participating include the art club, black student union, history club, etc.

The night will not only highlight the different clubs but will allow students to interact with them through different activities such as fun crafts, displays, items to purchase, etc. This is a great opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to go off-campus and have a bit of fun while still supporting SAU. Professor Terri Switzer is the head of this project and is the one to contact with any questions. She says, “SAU has an institutional membership at the Figge, which allows all SAU students to visit it for free with their student ID, and that provides enormous benefits, particularly for our Art History and Art students.” This event is no different meaning it is free to all SAU students, faculty, and staff.

How many students know about this event though? Ayana Eaton a junior at Ambrose stated, “I had no idea that this event was going on and I wish it was talked about more.” She also said, “I would love to go to an event like this and I am glad I learned about it!”

Professor Switzer is hopeful for a good turnout. “My hope is that if we can get students into the lobby of The Figge each year for this fun annual event, those same students will return and take friends with them for fun outings at the museum.”

SAU students seem excited about this upcoming event and it is definitely one that they would enjoy checking out. It also allows students to go to an acclaimed art museum which they may have not ever been able to do before.

Junior Hannah Drish says, “I am excited for the event as it will give me a chance to check out the art at the Figgie and learn more about the different clubs at Ambrose!”

Overall, this event seems to pique the interest of many students around campus as it offers many fun activities. It also is a great way to bring the SAU community together in a fun way. The clubs at SAU also benefit through the exposure and interactive activities that they provide. This event is one that can be enjoyed by all so mark it on your calendar.

The night will also be broadcasted live by KALA and feature Sassie Cassie Art & Design which is owned by SAU alum Cassie Hall ’17.
