On February 10th, St. Ambrose’s Student Government (SGA) sent out an ongoing survey to all students asking for ideas to improve the Beehive and game room within Ambrose Hall. Many students had thoughtful insights as to what they wanted to see.

SGA, so far, has received nearly 100 student responses, many relaying suggestions such as a new paint job, furniture, and equipment. Another common response from the survey was the lack of usage the game room faces.

Isabelle Schad, a junior at SAU, says “I mainly come here for the coffee shop and tend to leave right after.”

SGA’s Vice President, Luka Konovalvo, says he never goes into the game room because “it’s kind of hidden and on its own. That’s why we want to make it known, so people don’t say ‘almost never.’”

SGA is hopeful that implementing changes to the Beehive and Game Room will increase student usage of both areas, as well as increase student comfort overall.

Jack Day, the Student Body President, says ”We really want students, and perspective students, when they come through here on tour, to see Ambrose and see themselves in this space when they come through here, when they hangout here and when they study here.

“We really want to create an environment that gives students the opportunity to relax and decompress a little bit and enjoy their time here at Ambrose.”

Students should see the process of these changes beginning in the summer with the potential for a brand new Beehive and Game Room in the next Fall semester.
