SAU students say it is hard to afford gas without a job or even a part-time job while attending college.

Football player Aaron Brown says gas prices are hard to afford, even though he only lives an hour away.

“The prices affect me, because with them being higher than normal, I have to save more money to put in my car for when I want to go home.

It means less eating out or slowing down and buying things I don’t necessarily need, but I do try to fill up in Iowa because it is cheaper than Illinois.”

Aaron talks about how the Illinois area, however, is more expensive than the Iowa area. “ The gas prices influence my driving choices a little bit by helping me think about how much it is to or from somewhere else.”

A lot of students say they struggle with gas prices, not just one, but multiple students who drive and have to buy their own gas.

Owen Gulick, a current football player at SAU, says they were outrageous, “ I try not to drive a ton, so I don’t have to spend as much money on gas.

I try not to drive that much in general. I live kind of far, so I try not to blow through my gas, so I can’t go home as often as I want to.” Owen also mentioned, “ The gas prices should not be skyrocketing like they have been the past few months.

Sooner or later, who knows if there’s going to be a protest or something that may cause a disturbance within cities. They also take a toll because I have certain things I have to drive to, that I’m required to attend, and it also ruins personal fun reasons like hanging out with friends or even doing extracurricular activities.
